Foundation Overview:

The HealthWell Foundation is a Forbes 100-rated, Maryland-based 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to underinsured Americans to help them afford life-changing medical treatments.  Our mission is to reduce financial barriers to care for underinsured patients living with chronic or life-altering diseases. 


Job Purpose and Position Overview:

All positions at HealthWell are designed to proactively further its efforts in meeting its mission.  Specifically, persons in this position oversee and manage pharmacy, provider and medical specialty society engagement and outreach activities in cooperation with HealthWell’s Senior Foundation Program Officer to establish relationships with key stakeholders and help them navigate HealthWell’s program, funds and processes.


After successful completion of onboarding activities as determined by the Senior Foundation Program Officer, persons in this position are expected to be in-office at least two days per week in accordance with the Foundation’s telecommuting policy.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead responsibility for liaising with key retail and specialty pharmacies and provider offices ensuring that representatives there are familiar with HealthWell, its funds, and its processes
  • Work in coordination with the External Relations team to focus on increasing pharmacy, provider and subsequent patient awareness for specific HealthWell funds which have need for additional patient participation
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with medical specialty societies aligned with or complimentary to HealthWell’s mission
  • Attend and participate in select domestic conferences, meetings and webinars focused on patient outreach on behalf of HealthWell
  • Strategically advise HealthWell Senior Management and the External Relations team as to methods, processes, and procedures that would be most efficiently helpful in providing increased stakeholder engagement with the Foundation
  • Work with the Operations team to create performance metrics that may be helpful in maintaining and increasing stakeholder satisfaction in working with HealthWell
  • Other duties as requested.


Technical Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree a plus)
  • 5-7 years of related experience in healthcare or nonprofit
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
  • Strong written, oral, and public speaking communication skills
  • Experience with Salesforce (user or administrator) preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically for various conferences and meetings
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite product
  • Pharmacy techs and office managers with case management experience are encouraged to apply


Preferred Competencies

  • Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing (pharmacy and buy-and-bill), insurance plan design and coverage issues and how those intersect with the Foundation’s program and funds
